That First Dance Gets Me Every Time

Sappy warning. Getting to do videography and shoot the first dance at Malachi & Kelsey's wedding made my heart so happy! Being able to capture a couple's special day for them and getting to witness the love between two people that God has called to be one is something special! I was doing a little research as to what the first dance actually symbolizes, and I thought this point of view was pretty cool to share. Not only is it the first dance as husband and wife, but it symbolizes being united... and in that unity, the husband is head, leading the wife. Ephesians 5:23-24 says, "For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything." As a couple dives into this new chapter of their lives, this first dance is a symbol of the couple moving through it together, and husband leading the wife through it all. Watching a newly wed's first dance gets me every time! It's one of those moments that, as you watch the couple, you know that the love they have for each other is real. It's one of those moments that makes you think, wow God, thank you for all the beautiful blessings in life. So the next time you think, "Ugh, another dance we have to sit through...", try to remember the beauty of it all!
